Description: Do you know where your vegetables come from? Have you ever tried to grow anything on your own before? Whether you have a green thumb or not - we are inviting makers to spend a week learning about the natural world through a variety of project-based experiences! The main goal for this project is to build two plant beds from scratch in our woodshop for a local community garden, and plant a batch of vegetables for our community to enjoy. We'll take this project to the next level by challenging students to use makerspace tools to build a watering device. Challenge your brain, and stimulate your community to grow in Gardens @ Gizmo!

Please Note: Summer camp at the makerspace is a unique opportunity we wish to make available to as many youth in the community as possible. To help us achieve this goal, each child may only be registered for ONE week of camp at Gizmo. We may open camps to second-time registration at a later date if spots do not fill.

Age: 9-13*

*Eligibility is based on child's age on the first day of camp.

Cost: $250.00, includes all materials. Scholarships are available for families with financial need. Read more about scholarships below.

Scholarship Information: Gizmo reserves half of all camp spots for scholarship recipients. Scholarships are based on financial need and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Gizmo uses a sliding scale system for scholarships: you decide what your family can reasonably contribute toward your child's camp experience, and Gizmo covers the difference. Families may apply for one scholarship per child, per summer, for the camp(s) of their choosing. To apply for a scholarship, please complete the Summer 2023 Scholarship Application form, which is accessible by clicking here. Upon approval of your application, you will be provided with instructions on how to register your child for camp. Please do not attempt to register prior to receiving a confirmation from Gizmo.

Cancellation Policy: If your child is no longer able to attend camp, you may cancel your registration up to 10 days prior to the start of camp for a 90% refund. (Gizmo retains 10% to cover our administrative/transaction costs.) Refunds will generally not be issued for cancellations within 10 days of camp, nor missed camp days.

Camp Policies & Procedures: Prior to completing camp registration, families should be familiar with our 2023 Camp Policies and Camper Code of Conduct. In addition, each camper is required to have a waiver signed by a parent/guardian prior to participating in camp activities. You can preview this waiver here.
