Description: What does it take to land a spacecraft on the moon? How does living in zero gravity affect the human body and mind? Why are humans so fascinated by the night sky? At this camp, we will consider these questions and explore possible answers through hands-on projects. Along the way, we will play with circuits, motors, 3D printing, lasers, paint, chemistry, geology and more.
This camp will run two different weeks during the Summer of 2024: July 8-12 and August 19-23. Click here to view the alternative session.
Please Note: Summer camp at the makerspace is a unique opportunity we wish to make available to as many youth in the community as possible. To help us achieve this goal, each child may only be registered for ONE week of camp at Gizmo. We may open camps to second-time registration at a later date if spots do not fill.
Age: 7-11*
*Eligibility is based on child's age on the first day of camp.
Cost: $260.00, includes all materials. Scholarships are available for families with financial need. Read more about scholarships below.
Scholarship Information: Gizmo reserves half of all camp spots for scholarship recipients. Scholarships are based on financial need and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Gizmo uses a sliding scale system for scholarships: you decide what your family can reasonably contribute toward your child's camp experience, and Gizmo covers the difference. Families may apply for one scholarship per child, per summer, for the camp(s) of their choosing. To apply for a scholarship, please complete the Summer 2024 Scholarship Application form, which is accessible by clicking here. Upon approval of your application, you will be provided with instructions on how to register your child for camp. Please do not attempt to register prior to receiving a confirmation from Gizmo.
Cancellation Policy: If your child is no longer able to attend camp, you may cancel your registration up to 10 days prior to the start of camp for a 90% refund. (Gizmo retains 10% to cover our administrative/transaction costs.) Refunds will generally not be issued for cancellations within 10 days of camp, nor missed camp days.
Camp Policies & Procedures: Prior to completing camp registration, families should be familiar with our 2024 Camp Policies and Camper Code of Conduct. In addition, each camper is required to have a waiver signed by a parent/guardian prior to participating in camp activities. You can preview this waiver here.
