Description:
Expand your skillset in the clay studio in this intermediate class. We will explore surface textures, lids, pulled handles, altered forms, collaring/choking, and other techniques depending on student interest.
Cost of class includes weekly instruction, studio glazes and firing of all pieces made during class. A membership is not required, however students may purchase a membership ($48/month) for studio time between classes.
Prerequisite: Students should previously taken a Fundamentals of Pottery course and/or have a mastery of wedging, centering and throwing a cylinder.
Note: Wheel throwing is physically demanding and requires holding static positions for extended periods of time. This class is not recommended for individuals with chronic pain and/or injuries in the hand, wrist, elbow or shoulders.
Age: 16+
Cost: $200.00 + the cost of clay.
Students may purchase a 25 lb bag of clay from Gizmo. Gizmo members pay a price of $30, or a 6 lb tube of recycled clay for $6. Non-member price for new clay is $40, and recycled clay $8. Due to firing requirements, we cannot allow clay in this class purchased outside of Gizmo.
