Description:
Join us for an introductory class on throwing pottery on the wheel. Learn the skills necessary to center, open and pull your first cylinder. It’s the perfect way to get your hands in the clay and discover if pottery is for you. This class is designed for students with little to no experience on the potter's wheel. This class will also cover glazing. The Fundamentals class is a great way to build confidence in preparing clay, mastering centering, and refining your basic throwing techniques. Dive in and experience the joy of creating with clay!
Cost of class includes weekly instruction, studio clay, studio glazes and firing. You should expect to finish 3-5 pieces in the course of the class that will be yours to keep.
Students may repeat the Fundamentals I class once before moving on to the Fundamentals II level. To ensure there is enough space to accomodate new clay students, you may not take this class more than twice.
Note: Wheel throwing is physically demanding and requires holding static positions for extended periods of time. This class is not recommended for individuals with chronic pain and/or injuries in the hand, wrist, elbow or shoulders.
