Session Dates (5):
Monday - Friday
June 22nd - 26th
Time: 9:30 AM - 3:00 PM
Description: Ready to ride something you built yourself? In this action-packed camp, students will design and create their own custom light-up skateboard deck—combining woodworking, laser cutting, and electronics into one epic build.
Start by shaping and sanding your board in the woodshop, then add custom flair using a laser cutter to engrave graphics or cut design elements. Next, bring the glow! You’ll wire up NeoPixel LEDs and program a microcontroller to create eye-catching light patterns that respond and shine.
Along the way, you’ll learn safe tool use, creative design techniques, and foundational coding skills—earning badges for each tool and skill mastered. Throughout the week we will walk to the Coeur d'Alene skate park and test your designs! By the end of camp, you won’t just roll out with a one-of-a-kind illuminated skateboard—you’ll leave with serious maker confidence and tech know-how.
Build it bold. Ride it bright. Let’s light up the skate park!

Scholarship Information: Gizmo reserves half of all camp spots for scholarship recipients. Scholarships are based on financial need and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Gizmo uses a sliding scale system for scholarships: you decide what your family can reasonably contribute toward your child's camp experience, and Gizmo covers the difference. Families may apply for one scholarship per child, per summer, for the camp(s) of their choosing. To apply for a scholarship, please complete the Summer 2026 Scholarship Application form, which is accessible by clicking here. Upon approval of your application, you will be provided with instructions on how to register your child for camp. Please do not attempt to register prior to receiving a confirmation from Gizmo.
Cancellation Policy: If your child is no longer able to attend camp, you may cancel your registration up to 10 days prior to the start of camp for a 90% refund. (Gizmo retains 10% to cover our administrative/transaction costs.) Refunds will generally not be issued for cancellations within 10 days of camp, nor missed camp days.
Camp Policies & Procedures: Prior to completing camp registration, families should be familiar with the policies outlined in the Youth Programs: Information for Families and the Gizmo Student Code of Conduct.. In addition, each camper is required to have a waiver signed by a parent/guardian prior to participating in camp activities. You can access the youth waiver here.
