Stop Motion Studio & Moving Machines Camp (Ages 8-10)

Lights… camera… create!

Session Dates (5):
Monday - Friday
July 13th - 17th

Time: 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM

Description: Campers step into the role of filmmaker, animator, designer, and engineer. This hands-on camp blends storytelling and mechanics as students bring their ideas to life — one frame at a time.

Campers will:

  • Dream up an original story and create a detailed storyboard

  • Design characters, props, and sets

  • Film and direct their own stop-motion movie using iPads and stop motion filming apps.

  • Learn the basics of video editing to polish their final production

  • Explore simple machines and motion

  • Use the laser cutter to design and cut custom gear shapes

  • Build a moving automata sculpture powered by interlocking gears

From carefully capturing each tiny movement of a character to watching gears turn in a hand-built mechanical sculpture, campers discover how creativity and engineering work together. They’ll explore how motion is created both on screen and in real life — frame by frame and gear by gear.

It’s imagination in motion, storytelling in action, and engineering you can see and touch.

Roll camera — and let’s make something amazing!

Age: 8-10

Cost: $150 (includes materials)

Scholarship Information: Gizmo reserves half of all camp spots for scholarship recipients. Scholarships are based on financial need and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Gizmo uses a sliding scale system for scholarships: you decide what your family can reasonably contribute toward your child's camp experience, and Gizmo covers the difference. Families may apply for one scholarship per child, per summer, for the camp(s) of their choosing. To apply for a scholarship, please complete the Summer 2026 Scholarship Application form, which is accessible by clicking here. Upon approval of your application, you will be provided with instructions on how to register your child for camp. Please do not attempt to register prior to receiving a confirmation from Gizmo.

Cancellation Policy: If your child is no longer able to attend camp, you may cancel your registration up to 10 days prior to the start of camp for a 90% refund. (Gizmo retains 10% to cover our administrative/transaction costs.) Refunds will generally not be issued for cancellations within 10 days of camp, nor missed camp days.

Camp Policies & Procedures: Prior to completing camp registration, families should be familiar with the policies outlined in the Youth Programs: Information for Families and the Gizmo Student Code of Conduct.. In addition, each camper is required to have a waiver signed by a parent/guardian prior to participating in camp activities. You can access the youth waiver here.
