Backyard Biologists: Spring Break Camp (Ages 5-7)

What if you could become a scientist, explorer, and nature detective all in one unforgettable adventure?

Session Dates (5):
Monday - Friday
March 30th - April 3rd

Time: 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Description: Campers step into the role of scientist, explorer, and nature detective. This hands-on camp blends outdoor adventure with simple biology and big curiosity — discovering how living things survive, grow, and thrive.

Campers will:

  • Explore the outdoors and observe plants, insects, and animal habitats

  • Gently search for and study bugs up close

  • Learn about lakes and watershed science through playful experiments

  • Use microscopes to see the hidden details in leaves, soil, and water

  • Discover how animals and plants have special “superpowers” to survive

  • Create nature-inspired art and simple biomimicry projects

Why do some bugs blend in? How does water travel from rain to lake? What can we learn from the way nature solves problems?

Through outdoor exploration, hands-on experiments, storytelling, and creative making, campers learn to see the natural world as a living laboratory. Every day is filled with discovery, movement, and moments of awe.

Big curiosity. Tiny discoveries. Outdoor adventure.

Age: 5-7

Cost: $150 (includes materials)

Scholarship Information: Gizmo reserves half of all camp spots for scholarship recipients. Scholarships are based on financial need and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Gizmo uses a sliding scale system for scholarships: you decide what your family can reasonably contribute toward your child's camp experience, and Gizmo covers the difference. Families may apply for one scholarship per child, per summer, for the camp(s) of their choosing. To apply for a scholarship, please complete the Summer 2026 Scholarship Application form, which is accessible by clicking here. Upon approval of your application, you will be provided with instructions on how to register your child for camp. Please do not attempt to register prior to receiving a confirmation from Gizmo.

Cancellation Policy: If your child is no longer able to attend camp, you may cancel your registration up to 10 days prior to the start of camp for a 90% refund. (Gizmo retains 10% to cover our administrative/transaction costs.) Refunds will generally not be issued for cancellations within 10 days of camp, nor missed camp days.

Camp Policies & Procedures: Prior to completing camp registration, families should be familiar with the policies outlined in the Youth Programs: Information for Families and the Gizmo Student Code of Conduct.. In addition, each camper is required to have a waiver signed by a parent/guardian prior to participating in camp activities. You can access the youth waiver here.
