Description:

Learn the skills necessary to throw cylinders, cups, bowls and more in this exciting introduction to throwing fundamentals. This class is designed for students with little to no experience on the potter's wheel.  This class will also cover glazing and basic hand building techniques.

Cost of class includes weekly instruction, studio clay, studio glazes and firing.* You should expect to make 3-5 pieces in the course of the class that will be yours to keep.

Note: Wheel throwing is physically demanding and requires holding static positions for extended periods of time. This class is not recommended for individuals with chronic pain and/or injuries in the hand, wrist, elbow or shoulders.

*PLEASE READ: As of January 2023, pottery classes at Gizmo-CdA will no longer include open access to the Clay Studio outside of class hours. Individuals interested in practicing between classes are welcome and encouraged to purchase a monthly membership, which helps us to sutain operations within the Clay Studio and the makerspace generally.
