Woodshop: Miter Saw Basics - Birdhouse

Get hands-on with the miter saw in this skill-building woodworking class!

Saturday, May 23rd

Time: 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Description: Learn the fundamentals of measuring and marking, then practice making accurate cross cuts, and angled cuts using the miter saw. You’ll explore essential setups and accessories, including fence, clamps and cutting aids, and learn how to find and set angles with a speed square and by tilting the saw blade. Along the way, you’ll use a power drill for pre-drilling and countersinking and assemble a simple birdhouse as a complete demo project. This class covers the core skills required for miter saw certification and is a great foundation for future woodshop projects.

Attire: please wear closed-toe shoes, hair pulled back, and avoid overly loose and flowing clothing.

Age: 16+

Cost: $65 (includes materials)
